Virtual Sorrento Bay Swim

The Sorrento Bay Swim was cancelled in 2021 due to COVID, and instead of cancelling again in 2022, the decision was made to proceed with a virtual event, which was a great alternative. It was critical to raise some funds for the SSLSC, to ensure the safety of our beaches.

Entrants were able to swim anywhere, anytime during the month of January, which also opened up the opportunity for families to swim together, and for anyone with a disability and learner swimmers to complete the swim in a pool and incrementally.

The Raisely fundraising platform was used and all entrants had a fundraising page automatically created for them during their registration process, which encouraged them to seek sponsorship of their swim from friends and family.

All elements of the planning and implementation were conducted by Functioning Together, including sourcing sponsors, budget management, setting up the fundraising platform, registrations, event marketing, construction of billboards, and distribution of event T-Shirts and Certificates of Completion after the event.

The funding goal was exceeded, raising a total of $3,000. SSLSC were very happy with the overall result of the event.

‘Paula’s knowledge of what it takes to hold a successful event is second to none and she makes the whole process simple and stress-free. This year due to COVID we were not able to run our standard event but she suggested an alternative ‘virtual’ option and the results were fantastic.’
